Are you grateful for failure? I thought I was stepping into homeownership. I imagined the keys, the responsibilities, the pride. And then it fell through.
At first, it felt like disappointment—another reminder that plans don’t always go the way we hope. But what unfolded afterward felt like something bigger than coincidence. Instead of one home, I gained a rental property, financial leverage, and a beautiful, spacious rent-stabilized apartment that allows me to live fully without the weight of homeownership responsibilities. And then I realized where I was.
My new apartment sits across the street from where I was born.
It felt like a quiet, sacred moment—a full-circle return. A reminder that my life has a through line that existed long before I understood it. My mother, who passed away when I was eight, has always been a symbol of love, protection, and alignment for me. Standing there, I felt her presence not as grief, but as guidance. Failure didn’t stop me. It positioned me.
